When talking about summer flowers, most people think about an explosion of colours.
I have always liked white flowers as they are very delicate and sohisticated and break the colours.
These climbing roses are a bit "mental" as they climb on a tree and are absolutely fabulous. It says that roses climbers could reach 10m, well this one does easily!
Many think that white flowers are a bit dull and not enough cheerful but they create a lovely contrast when placed next to bright colours and in fact they enhance each other..
This climbing hydrangea above is also very energetic, it has to be severely pruned down every year otherwise it becomes really invasive but its delicate flowers are a real beauty when looked at from close.
Yellow flowers are always popular as they reflect the light even on a dull day. These ones above thrive by the pond so I guess they qualify as water plants!
A pond without water-lilies won't be a pond, and it is a real pleasure to see these elegant flowers opening in the morning and closing as the light decreases.
I like a pink/purple/blue harmony of colours in a garden but I also think that by bringing a few spots of bright yellow and soft white here and there enhances the balance of the flowerbeds.
The only thing is that by the end of the day you have to spend a lot of time weeding if you want to have superb flowers...that's the down side of gardening! ;-)
