The Jardin des Plantes or Botanical Gardens is located to the east of the Latin Quarter.
The establishment was opened to the public in 1640 and has since been one of the green oases in the heart of Paris.
Extensive gardens, shaded alleys and flowerbeds showcase a series of museums, including the splendid Grande Galerie de l'Evolution.
You will also find several greenhouses where non native plants are cultivated, as well as a zoo or Ménagerie which is very popular with families with young children.
