In France Bluebells are known as Wild Hyacinths and are found mostly all over the country.

They bloom between April and May depending on the weather and are of course perenial bulbs.

They reproduce very rapidly, colonise large areas of underwood and may be considered as weeds in some areas!

Hyacinths are associated with Spring as they produce some of the most glorious sceneries you can imagine... solid blue underwoods!

The hyacint is also associated with the Greek mythology.
Hyacinth was a beautiful boy and the lover of the god Apollo. They both enjoyed throwing the discus and took turns in the game, but Hyacinth ran to catch it to impress his lover but was struck by it and died.

The legend has it that Apollo made a flower spring from Hyacinth's blood and that the tears he shed marked the new flower's petals with the letters "AIAI" ("alas"), the sign of his grief.
